Modern Day Rosies

Empowering Women Daily
For the ones who carry it - & don't talk about it.
At Modern Day Rosies, we celebrate women’s resilience by honoring those on the front lines—EMS, fire, police, military, and healthcare.
Through art and education, we share their stories and bring visibility to the work they carry.

Kate Bergen
Kate Bergen is a paramedic, artist, and educator with nearly two decades in EMS.
Modern Day Rosies was created during a time marked by intense stress, anxiety, and emotional overload as a way to make sense of what she was experiencing and give a face to the people behind the work.
What started as art turned into something more: conversations, teaching, and a way to connect the emotional side of the job with something tangible.
This isn’t theory.
It’s lived experience.

Why This Matters
Modern Day Rosies is a portrait and storytelling project honoring women on the front lines through art, education, and conversation.
Built to make the invisible visible, this work centers women’s empowerment — focusing on those who show up in the hardest moments, and the parts of the job no one talks about after.
What began during COVID has grown into something more.
The Women Behind the Masks collection.
The Women of 9/11 series.
Rosie Can Do It All.
Different forms of the same idea — telling stories that deserve to be remembered.
At its core, this work is about what’s carried — not just what’s seen.
Mental health, identity, and resilience — the parts that don’t always have a place to go.
This is about recognition.
This is about identity.
And making sure their stories don’t get overlooked.
